LA Manhunt: Dorner Shootout Ends In Cabin Fire
A driver's licence bearing the name of Christopher Dorner has been found inside the burned cabin where the murder suspect was thought to have been hiding.
Charred human remains discovered inside the property in California's Big Bear Lake area have not yet been identified and forensic tests are being carried out.
Dorner, an ex-policeman suspected of three murders, is believed to have taken shelter in the cabin with an arsenal of weapons after a gunfight with officers.
San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said two deputies were injured in the shootout, one of whom died from his injuries.
The noise of the gun battle was broadcast by KCAL-TV, whose reporter suddenly found himself near the scene. Someone could be heard yelling at him to get out of the area.
A law enforcement official said a single shot was heard as police moved in on the cabin.
The suspect did not come out of the property as it was engulfed in flames.
It is not yet clear whether the fire was started from inside or by police officers who were firing bullets and tear gas canisters at the cabin.
In one audio clip purporting to be a police scanner conversation, a male voice can be heard saying: "All right, Steve, we're gonna go, er, we're gonna go forward with the plan, with, er, with the burn. We want it, er, like we talked about.
"Seven burners deployed and we have a fire."
It is unclear whether "the burn" refers to tear gas.
Authorities focused their hunt for Dorner in the mountains after he apparently launched a campaign to exact revenge against the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for sacking him.
LAPD Commander Andrew Smith had urged Dorner, whose truck was found in the area last Thursday, to surrender, telling him: "Enough is enough."
The LA Times said that on Tuesday, two maids entered a cabin close to where the vehicle was left and came across a man resembling his description.
The man reportedly tied up the maids - one of whom was able to break free and raise the alarm - before he left in a purple Nissan parked near the cabin.
Police had been following up hundreds of new leads prompted by a $1m (£640,000) reward for information.
Dorner, a naval reservist, is suspected of killing a couple on February 3 and then ambushing two policemen early last Thursday, killing one of them.
He made threats against the LAPD in an angry rant on Facebook, after which officers were assigned to protect members of staff and their families.

I don't understand why he wanted scuba diving tanks. They wouldn't last very long. Where would he go with those? They'd just add weight. He wouldn't need them for fishing. I thought because he was in the navy, he wouldn't hide anywhere to do with boats or the sea or beaches due to the simple fact, that is the most obvious place to look. I also thought he wouldn't hide in the mountains because that's too obvious. He could have meant by asymmetrical, everything he learned in the navy and police he wouldn't use. I still don't imagine it lasting very long because these stories don't. Aha! He wanted the scuba diving tanks, incase the authorities attacked him with any kind of gas! In which case, he does have enough but if the he gets shot, he could blow up.

They have banned the media and have a no fly zone. Expect him to be dead in the morning. The man is a liability to the lapd and as such will be eliminated. Welcome to the new world order.

Numpty!

Agreed Jimmy.

jimmyjedi1979
Absolutely. And all these numptys and idiots can't see past the end of their noses. And as predicted the man is dead and there will be no witnesses.

jimmyjedi1979
And as predicted the man is dead and guess what- no witnesses. Just the 'official' report. Which is more than enough to appease farm yard Britain. Bahahaaa moooooo!

mark smith
Jimmyjedi Britons most paranoid man, you need to up your meds jimmy! Every story that jimmyjedi comments on has the comment that its the new world orders fault! Glad Dorner is dead, he is a murder and an eye for an eye is always a happy ending as far as I am concerned!

jimmyjedi1979
Mark smith if you disbelieve most stories rather than believe more stories id say the ratio of lies far outweigh the truth, but with small minded people like yourself people will always be quick to label people as paranoid. It just shows the enlightened how small a box you people actually think in and if anything only encourage the woken to question things even more. Whether we are right or wrong the fact we now question our masters is a victory for truth and freedom :)

mark smith
So jimmyJedI you dont even know me but you are calling me small minded, that only proves one thing, you really are deluded. For your information I believe very little of what I read in newspapers or what I hear on tv news! As for this story the man is a multiple murderer and I for one am glad he has died as I am a great believer in an eye for an eye, there was no conspiracy theories, just another loon on the rampage! As for all this questioning our masters I dont know about you but I voted in a democratic ection

mark smith
Election to vote this so called masters in, granted I didn't get the result I wanted and also I would prefer a PR form of government but like I said at least I got a vote! So in the meantime keep questioning your so called masters but also may I suggest you make a doctors appointment and get your meds looked at, me thinks they need to up the dosage!

jimmyjedi1979
You don't know me yet you call me Britains most paranoid? Hypocrisy at its finest there. And as for your free democratic vote, yes you're absolutely free to choose a party colour, but lets face it even the walking dead in Britain are now agreeing that red, blue and yellow are all singing of the same hymn sheet. But then if you like theatre and believing you have a choice carry on living in ignorance and use your most powerful vote! (just don't waste your mainstream rhetoric on me)

James R McCulloch
"Enough is enough" so Andrew Smith says? Well, I suggest he starts to look after his police force properly, listen to them, treat them with respect and never give them reason to bear grudges. If you fail one officer, you fail them all.

mark smith
Bear grudges? That's right I have been hard done to so I will go on a murder spree! what a pathetic statement, god help the world if every person who has a grudge takes up arms!

Raymond Castle
Hold on a minute, did I read the second to last paragraph right? The LAPD are assigning police officers to protect police officers?

william Baker
Yes Raymond you did, what a Bizarre world we live in lol

I doubt 'burners' refers to tear gas. Surely not incendiary grenades of some kind...?
