Wintry Weather: Latest Forecast For UK
Ice will be a problem across England this morning, particularly for eastern and northern areas with the snow petering out and clearing west.
Rain over Wales and the South West arrives but the rest of Friday will be drier, brighter and very cold over central and eastern England.
It will be cloudier further north and west for Scotland and Ireland with patchy rain and drizzle, perhaps a little light snow mixed in over the hills of Wales where it will be mostly cloudy.
Rain will persist over western and southwestern England and South Wales.
Tonight, the rain over Wales and Cornwall should die away, leaving conditions mostly dry with clear skies and resulting in very cold temperatures, with a sharp frost and ice in places.
Cloudy skies remain over Scotland and Ireland with further drizzly rain and mist.
Saturday is expected to be a cold day but with plenty of wintry sunshine over England and Wales. There will be a hard frost to start the day.
The far north of England will be cloudy, as will the coastal lines of East Anglia and Kent.
Scotland and Ireland will have another cloudy day with drizzle but maybe a few bright spells in the East.
Saturday night will be clear and frosty for southern parts of Britain but cloudier in Scotland and Ireland.
That cloud will push south to more central areas overnight with a little patchy light rain, which could pose an ice risk as it falls on cold roads in northern England, north Wales and the north Midlands.
Sunday will be another cold day in the South with some patchy light rain or sleet as well. Elsewhere, there will be a lot of dry weather but drizzle in northwest Scotland. Temperatures will be a little higher than recently.

Normal winter weather, can we not have a good old killer virus scare story for a change?

They will be blaming "global warming " next. The poiticians will save us from the evil winter weather by taxing us to the hilt. You can't afford to heat your house? then knit yourself a wooly hat and scarf they will tell you. Anyone remember Edwina Curry's words of "wisdom"?

Stephen Aynscough
"For Scotland and Ireland, it is looking very windy across northwestern parts with 70 to 80mph gusts"........ the none existent / mild wind in central scotland is busy removing our roof - that's a clever trick!!

Derek Porter
We Brits are so pathetic. A little bit of wind or snow and we carry on as if the World was ending. How on Earth would we handle hurricanes or tsunamis?
