Lily Allen comes out of pop retirement

Lily Allen is set to launch another assault on the charts - she has returned to the studio, three years after walking away from her pop career.

The outspoken singer took to her Twitter.com page to confirm she has reunited with producer Greg Kurstin to work on new material, following their successful collaboration on her 2009 sophomore release It's Not Me, It's You.

Allen wrote, "You will be pleased to know I am currently in the f**king studio with Greg Kurstin. No big deal really, I'm just throwing s**t at the wall and seeing if anything sticks."

The Smile hitmaker shocked the music industry in 2009 after she told fans she was "retiring from writing, recording and touring under the name Lily Allen".

However, Allen is said to have become enthusiastic about recording again after writing tracks for the upcoming Bridget Jones' Diary stage musical.

what do you think?

The worst news I've heard this year, perhaps in my life.I had hoped when she had kids she would fade into the background but I'm clearly not that lucky. This means we have to endure more of her inane pointless drivel going forward. Sad day for me.

no surprise. Retrirement? After 2 best selling albums? yeah, right. Lily - next time just tell us the truth - you're having a break - that way we don't get excited over nothing again.

Yeah, why not be honest and say you want to have a break? Otherwise you just appear fickle, eh Lily? If you want my opinion, you should stay in musical retirement and make clothes. I can't stand the pathetic and contrived mock cockney accent (mock-ney) that you warble in! Please do those of us with sensitive hearing a favour and keep your mouth closed... Permanently!!
