Lily Allen snubs Newsnight invite
Pop star Lily Allen has snubbed an invitation to appear on [NEWSNIGHT], admitting she's too "scared" to face questioning from veteran BBC journalists.
The Smile hitmaker was asked to be the star guest on Thursday night's edition of the programme, which features politicians and famous faces discussing current affairs.
But Allen has refused the invite, telling her Twitter.com fans, "Just got asked to be on Newsnight tonight. Soz (sorry), washing my hair. scaredeycat."
It's believed Allen was invited on the show to debate the scandal of tax-dodging celebrities after she ranted about the issue on Twitter, writing, "How are tax avoiders (sic) 'the moral equivalent of benefit cheats'? Surely they're a hundred times worse?... we're talking morals not legalities."
The issue hit headlines earlier this week amid allegations celebrities including funnyman Jimmy Carr had exploited a loophole in the law to pay a minimum amount of tax. Carr later issued an apology.
