Lostprophets rockers shocked by singer's child sex offence charges
The stars of Lostprophets are in a "state of shock" after frontman Ian Watkins was charged with child sex offences.
The singer appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court in his native Wales on Wednesday after being charged with two counts of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and three counts of possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children. He is also accused of possessing "extreme" animal pornography.
The 35 year old, from Pontypridd, was denied bail and will spend Christmas behind bars until his next hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on 31 December.
Watkins' attorney insists the singer denies the charges, and now his bandmates have spoken out about the case.
In a statement, they write, "Following charges made... against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers."
