Luxury Texas Home Teetering On Cliff Edge
A luxury home in central Texas has been left teetering atop a cliff overlooking a lake after the ground began collapsing.
Aerial footage shows the 4,000 sq ft home - valued at more than $700,000 (£417,000) - sitting perilously 75ft (23 metres) above Lake Whitney, about 60 miles south of Fort Worth.
The home's owners evacuated the property two weeks ago, WFAA-TV reported.
Hill County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Mark Wilson said the cliff's edge was originally about 50 metres away from the back of the home.
He said portions of the cliff began giving way in February.
Another chunk of the cliff collapsed on Tuesday night, sending debris crashing to the lake's edge below and alarming neighbours.
Connie Ash, who lives across the lake, told WFAA-TV: "I immediately thought it was an earthquake or blasting. It was loud, really loud.
"And then I saw smoke, dust, water ... I don't know, it was a huge cloud of stuff."
Authorities have cordoned off the property.
