Madonna summonsed to appear in Russian court
Madonna has been summonsed to appear at a court in Russia amid allegations she flouted the country's strict laws over promoting homosexuality.
The Material Girl was hit with a £6.5 million lawsuit by activists in St. Petersburg after performing a concert in the city in August.
Audience members had been handed pink wristbands to show their support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, prompting 10 members of the Union of Russian Citizens, the People's Assembly, and the New Great Russia party to file suit against the singer.
The case came before a judge in St. Petersburg this week and Madonna has been asked to travel to Russia to appear at the hearing.
Sky News reports the pop star is unlikely to attend and will be fined in her absence.

I actually think I care about Madonna and her ridiculous antics. I bought a cassette of her songs during the 1980s. The 1980s were full of singers wearing makeup and dresses. The male ones, too. I dunno, really. Obviously, some people are born both male and female and I've seen online stories, not by searching for them, just came across them of even males and females being born different to how they usually are. During a week in which I read about Italian earthquake scientists being imprisoned for incorrect predicting or being threatened with imprisonment and a bank robber being given his money back should Madonna have much reason to totally abide by strict Russian laws? What are they going to do? Put her in prison for half a year like that band who protested in a church? Two of them are still in prison, aren't they? What about all the communist spies who tried to demoralise Western civilisation by infiltrating universities and elsewhere? She's doing the same back?

When you are a guest in someone's house you respect their rules otherwise you don't go there. She has no Sovereign privilege though thinks, like many, she is above the law or is this another way of getting publicity ?
