Man 'Raped' Teen Who Answered Craigslist Ad
An 18-year-old woman has been raped by a man who put a fake job posting on Craigslist, Philadelphia police said.
The suspect, Kevin Cornish, 42, has been arrested. Police are also looking into evidence that as many as 50 other women may have been involved in a human-trafficking ring.
The victim has not been identified.
She told police she thought she was applying for a home health job, but after her "interview" she was given a contract for an escort service.
When she protested, she was allegedly forced to take off her clothes and raped.
"I thought he was going to kill me. I thought I was never coming home," the teen reportedly said.
"I tried to get up from the chair, and he pushed me back into the chair. And he said, 'If you don't sign these papers, you're not going nowhere,'" she told Action News.
Cornish was charged with rape and human trafficking.
Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said he is a "true predator" and asked other victims to come forward.
He tweeted: "Be careful w ads on Craigslist & similar sites. Arrest made for human trafficking -victims responded to Craigslist ad."
