Martin Scorsese to honour Darren Aronofsky at new film festival
Martin Scorsese is set to honour fellow director Darren Aronofsky at the inaugural First Time Fest film festival in New York next month.
Scorsese will present the first John Huston Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema to the Black Swan director during the event, which celebrates first-time filmmakers.
First Time Fest, which was co-founded by Tony Bennett's daughter, Johanna, and producer Mandy Ward, will screen a dozen films in competition and the jury and audience will together select a Grand Prize winner.
The victor will be offered theatrical distribution and full international sales representation from the American film distributor, Cinema Libre Studio.
A number of debut movies from filmmakers who went on to prominence, such as John Huston's The Maltese Falcon, will also be presented at the festival, which will take place between 1-4 March.
