Mason shoot-out tops videogame poll

Best-selling Call of Duty: Black Ops has been crowned top in a list of the best video game endings of all time by Guinness World Records.

Its dramatic finale involving a frantic shoot-out inside a submarine, providing the hero Mason with the chance to take vengeance for a murdered friend, emerged top among gamers.

More than 13,000 gaming fans voted for their best videogame ending of all time for the new Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer's Edition book.

In second place was another first-person shooter game, Halo: Reach, which takes place in the year 2552.

During the post-credits sequence, the player's character, Noble Six, makes a final stand against impossible odds.

Nintendo's classic game, the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, came third. In its finale, the character defeats Ganondorf and rescues Princess Zelda.

The rest of the top 50 is said by Guinness World Records to be a "definitive list of the greatest video game endings of all time".

Gaz Deaves, gaming editor for the Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer's Edition, said: "Everyone has an opinion on how to end a game, whether it's an epic boss fight, a clever plot twist or a 90 minute movie.

"This list recognises some of the greatest endings and hopefully will get gamers talking about what are their favourites and why."

Compiled and written by people who don't give a pinch about good story or cinematography, as voted by people who can't spell either.

They voted because they spend most of their lives trying to get next prestige so they can try and do the same all over again. Get out more. Or play Zelda.
