McBusted To Play Hyde Park Date In Summer

Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones have played Hyde Park - and now McBusted are to follow in their footsteps.

The pop group formed by members of Busted and McFly have announced they will headline at British Summer Time Hyde Park in July.

Harry Judd said the band, who have already organised a tour, all "laughed" when they were told the news.

Matt Wills joked: "It does feel ridiculous. Bruce Springsteen played Hyde Park, the Rolling Stones played Hyde Park. Now McBusted."

The band are rumoured to have been offered a record deal to write new material.

The group said they might pen new songs on tour, and that there had been lots of interest from record companies, but nothing had been signed yet.

McFly's Dougie Poynter joked: "We don't want to commit. It's like New Year.

"You don't want to say what you're doing until the last minute."

There had also been speculation that ex-Busted star Charlie Simpson, who decided not to join McBusted, could have changed his mind.

Speaking at a news conference in central London, Willis said: "Charlie's not ready to do this yet. But we talk to him all the time.

"He's our mate, so hopefully, who knows. We'll leave the door open."

McBusted will headline on Sunday, July 6, with special guests the Backstreet Boys.

McFly star Judd said: "We're confident that we're going to be able to put on a really good show.

"We have a big tour beforehand so we'll be well rehearsed."

Tickets go on general release from Friday.
