Mexican Mum Held After Son's Eyes Gouged Out
A mother in Mexico has been arrested on suspicion of gouging out the eyes of her five-year-old son during a ceremony.
Seven people have been arrested, including the boy's parents, after his eyeballs were pulled out during the ritual.
The incident happened in Nezahualcoyotl, a working-class neighbourhood of Mexico City.
"There was some kind of ceremony inside a house," said Laura Uribe, a spokeswoman for state prosecutors.
The mother is believed to have removed the boy's eyes with her bare hands because he refused to close them during the ceremony, police said during a news conference.
Officers found the mutilated boy in the house on Thursday morning, before rushing him to a hospital in Mexico City for treatment.

Horrific. . . After 7000 years of human civilization, we still havent really evolved past the cruelty of our animal ancestry. . . Makes me wonder if this 'ceremony' was based on black magic ? Or perhaps some fundamentalist christian cult ? After all, some christians in Africa kill children who they believe are witches. Either way, mother should be locked up forever

What on earth is wrong with people in this world, what kind of mother would do this to her own child!! Would not even clase this individaul as a mother, just a sick twisted individual!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just sick. The poor boy is just 5 years ol and had to endure this. The world is full of crazy people.
