Mexico: Girl, Nine, Gives Birth After 'Rape'
A nine-year-old Mexican girl has given birth in what authorities have called a rape or sexual abuse case.
The baby girl was born on January 27 in Zoquipan Hospital in Jalisco state, weighing 5lbs 7oz.
The youngster, who is identified only as Dafne, was eight when she got pregnant by a teenager who has since run away, her mother told local officials.
She said: "The father is a boy who is 17, but we have not found him, since he ran away.
"We are looking for the young man to get his story because she does not understand what has happened. This is a rape or child sex abuse case," said Jorge Villasenor with the state prosecutors' office.
Both girls were released from the hospital over the weekend, apparently doing well.
But the hospital said it would have to do extensive follow-up work due to the new mother's age.

If you have periods then you can get pregnant, it's on the younger end of the spectrum but not that rare at all.

I've read about things like this before. Rare but does happen. Mostly in places like Mexico too. So Diane it is possible there is more to this.

Look it up on internet. Caucasian girls tend to be around 13. It happens as young as 8 although in developed countries girls this young would be checked by a doctor my ex's sister was at 9

I was nine -it was 1967 and i was just short of my tenth birthday - that's why i know about it, I was mortified and scared and none of the family had prepared me as they hadn't expected it for a few more years. It was uncommon then - 1967 - but much more common nowadays as girls reach puberty earlier,

As long as you have periods you can get pregnant and it's not that rare to have begun them by eight/nine. It's a real shame for the wee girl though. I wish them the best too

This is reality not a fairy story. If God existed why would he let this happen. In th Bible Mary didn't get pregnant at 8 years old did she?

So u either think this girl is the incarnation of Mary,or u agree that what has happened is ok.... Get a grip. Poor little girl is just 8 years old. Obviously u do not have children.
