Michael Jackson doctor suit headed to trial

A wrongful death lawsuit filed by Michael Jackson's mum Katherine is heading to trial.

In 2010, the King of Pop's mum filed a civil lawsuit against AEG Live, the concert giants behind the star's doomed comeback shows in London, claiming bosses were negligent in ignoring life-threatening health concerns going on behind closed doors at his rented Los Angeles mansion.

On Thursday, Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos dismissed all but one count in the lawsuit against AEG Live executives, who were responsible for hiring Conrad Murray - the doctor who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the Thriller star's death.

Katherine will now go to trial on 2 April over allegations AEG Live heads negligently hired and supervised Murray.

Marvin Putnam, an attorney for AEG, has argued that Murray was not employed by the promoter and insists he is confident the company will win in court.

Jackson died in June, 2009 while preparing for his doomed series of gigs in the capital.
