Michael Le Vell to stand trial on child sex charges
Soap star Michael Le Vell will stand trial on child sex charges in September.
The actor, who has played mechanic Kevin Webster in beloved TV show Coronation Street for 30 years, is facing 19 charges relating to alleged offences between 2001 and 2010.
The allegations include raping a girl under 16, indecently assaulting a child and sexual activity with a child.
Le Vell, real name Michael Turner, appeared at Manchester Crown Court in Manchester on Thursday when a judge set a trial date for 2 September.
The 48 year old is due back in court on 17 May to enter a plea.
Le Vell has been removed from Coronation Street as his fights the allegations.
