Morrissey: 'I'd like to have the Beckhams flogged'

Singer Morrissey has launched a vicious tirade against David and Victoria Beckham, insisting he would have the pair "flogged" if he ran the country.

The former The Smiths frontman takes aim the celebrity supercouple in a new magazine interview following reports the footballer and his fashion designer wife are set to relocate to Britain from the U.S. later this year.

He accuses the pair of courting the paparazzi to fuel their fame, and fears they will receive titles from the royal family upon their return to the U.K.

Mockingly branding the duo 'the Peckhams', he tells Loaded magazine, "I'd... have the Peckhams (Beckhams) dragged to the edge of the village and flogged because they are insufferable to anyone of intelligence, and they actively chase the paparazzi.

"We don't seem to realise that David and Victoria Peckham will soon be back and God forbid they will be bestowed with titles Sir and Lady Peckham, this is what's wrong with this country, we don't seem to care."
