Bingo Hall Shooting: Mother And Son Injured
Two people are being treated in hospital following a shooting outside a bingo hall in Manchester.
Police were contacted by doctors after a 56-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son walked into hospital with gunshot wounds following the shooting outside Gala Bingo at Harpurhey shopping precinct on Sunday evening.
The woman had been picked-up from the bingo hall by her son around 7.15pm when a black car suddenly pulled-up behind them in the car park, blocking them in.
Two men jumped out of the car and opened fire, hitting the man in the wrist and causing an injury to the woman, though their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The son rammed his way out of the car park and drove off, later abandoning his Audi car on Woodville Terrace before the pair made their way to hospital on foot.
Detective Superintendent Alex Millet said last night: "This appears to be a targeted incident which could have had even more dire consequences.
"Thankfully it doesn't look like either are too seriously injured, but we'll know more tomorrow.
"We believe the black car was driven by two white men and it's from that car that the shots were fired. I want to reassure people that we have had armed response officers to the scene and are now investigating.
