New York Cop Denies Plot to Kill, Eat Women
A New York City police officer has pleaded not guilty to charges he plotted to abduct and cook women so he could eat their body parts.
Gilberto Valle, 28, entered the plea on Monday in federal court in Manhattan.
Authorities arrested Valle last month based on a tip from his estranged wife.
The FBI said it uncovered emails sent from Valle to an unidentified co-conspirator "discussing plans to kidnap, rape, torture, kill, cook and eat body parts of a number of women".
In one online exchange in July, Valle allegedly wrote: "I was thinking of tying her body on to some kind of apparatus... cook her over low heat, keep her alive as long as possible."
A search of Valle's computer found he had created records of at least 100 women with their names, addresses and photos, a criminal complaint said.
Some of the information came from his unauthorised use of a law enforcement database, authorities said.
No women were actually harmed, and Valle's attorney claims he was never a threat, calling the alleged plot a fantasy.
Valle, who remains behind bars, is due back in court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.
