Nicki Minaj gives Lil Wayne sports car for birthday

Rapper Nicki Minaj celebrated her mentor Lil Wayne's 30th birthday on Thursday by presenting him with a £43,750 three-wheeled sports car.

The Starships hitmaker purchased a red Campagna T-Rex for her Young Money Entertainment boss as a thank you gift for all of his support during her career, and she had the small two-seater customised with the message, "Nicki Loves Tunechi", in reference to Wayne's nickname.

The pricey item was presented to the stunned birthday boy during a party in Hollywood on Thursday night and Minaj took to her Twitter.com blog on Friday to show off pictures of the speedy vehicle, a cross between a motorcycle and a car.

According to TMZ.com, the T-Rex reaches speeds of 150 miles-per-hour (241.4 kilometres-per-hour).

The cost of the sports car is unlikely to have made much of a dent in Minaj's savings account - she reportedly banked £7.5 million just to sign on as a judge for the new season of American Idol.
