Nicki Minaj pulls out of music festival

Rapper Nicki Minaj has cancelled a music festival performance due to illness.

The Starships hitmaker was set to take to the stage at the V Festival this weekend but has pulled out of the show after she fell ill boarding a flight from New York on Friday.

A spokesperson for the event says, "Due to on-going vocal issues, Nicki Minaj is unable to play this year's V Festival... Miss Minaj's band and crew have all arrived in the U.K. ahead of the performance at the festival this weekend, however as the artist herself boarded her flight from New York on Friday 17th August, she felt unwell again. This is despite having thought she had overcome her vocal cord issues from earlier in the week.

"Having revisited her doctor she has now been advised to rest for a week, which unfortunately means that she is no longer able to perform at V Festival. V Festival organisers wish her a speedy recovery."

Minaj, who is suffering from a bruised vocal cord, revealed she was feeling ill on Monday after wrapping up her North American tour and was advised to rest her voice for two weeks by medics, but she defied doctor's orders and gave an early morning concert live on TV on Tuesday.
