Nicole Scherzinger lands Jesus Christ Superstar role
Nicole Scherzinger is heading to the theatre in a new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar.
The former Pussycat Dolls singer was last year rumoured to be starring in a movie version of the story, but it has now emerged she will be testing her musical theatre skills by playing Mary Magdalene in a touring production opposite comedian Tim Minchin as Judas.
The lead role of Jesus will be handed to the winner of Webber's latest TV talent contest Superstar.
The show follows Webber's previous theatre-themed star searches such as I'd Do Anything, which found a lead for a West End production of Oliver!, and Any Dream Will Do, which discovered an actor to play the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
