Ninja Turtles Film Poster Causes 9/11 Anger
A tweet of a poster picturing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles falling from a building with the date September 11 has been deleted.
The picture was shared on Paramount Australia's Twitter account but was removed when it started receiving criticism from users.
@JDDrake wrote: "Real smart, marketing team" and @JRBTempe tweeted: "Somebody's getting fired."
The Michael Bay-produced film hits cinemas in Australia on the same day that the 13th anniversary of the terror attacks on New York's Twin Towers will be commemorated.
The film, starring Megan Fox and Johnny Knoxville, is released in August in the US and in October in Europe.
The poster shows Raphael, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Leonardo apparently falling to the ground from an exploding building with the date September 11 shown below.
Twitter user @Chrisdyork said: "Pretty unfortunate date/picture combo."
Fox was in San Diego for Comic-Con at the weekend where she talked about why she wanted to play April in the film.
The star said Michaelangelo was her favourite ninja.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is released in the UK on October 17.
