Clattenburg Cleared Of Football Racism Claim

The FA has said it will not take disciplinary action against referee Mark Clattenburg after an alleged racist comment.
Chelsea midfielder, Ramires Santos do Nascimento, said he heard Clattenburg tell teammate John Obi Mikel "shut up you monkey" during the October 28 match against Manchester United.
The Football Association said it has "concluded its investigation into alleged misconduct by Mark Clattenburg ... No disciplinary action will follow against Mr Clattenburg."
The FA statement added that it believed the complaint by Ramires had been made in good faith.
It said: "It is entirely possible for a witness to be genuinely mistaken and convincing in his belief."
But the FA did charge Mikel for an alleged use of abusive language around the match officials' changing room following the match.
Following the FA decision, Clattenburg said: "I'm looking forward to putting this behind me ... To know you were innocent of something but that there was the opportunity for it to wreck your career was truly frightening."
He added: "I know first-hand the ramifications of allegations of this nature being placed into the public domain ahead of a formal process and investigation. I hope no referee has to go through this in the future."
Explaining their decision, the FA said Ramires' evidence was not supported by any other evidence.
"Moreover it was contradicted by other witnesses and does not cross the evidential threshold required to bring a charge against Mark Clattenburg," it said.
Chelsea FC said it accepted the FA's ruling. A statement said: "With regards to the Mark Clattenburg decision, the club accepts the case is now concluded and notes the FA states the allegation was made in good faith."
On the charge against Mikel, the club added: "While the player does not deny the charge, he will request a personal hearing to explain the mitigating circumstances."

He allegedly said shut up you monkey....now,I would say this to my mates if we were having banter, so why would it be racist anyway? So if I'm black I can say n###er if I'm white I can't say monkey....this is so stupid is beyond stupid.

Shaun Carachi
This news was told two weeks ago?!? Catch up or do you have nothing else to talk about?

Paul Walsh
Smacks a bit of double standards here. John Terry was cleared by a court of law but the FA still banned him. Yet no such investigation was done in this case, lip-readers, etc, etc and they just dismiss it out of hand!

simon calvert
Not at all, the police investigated it and found no evidence, the fa found the same, no evidence of him calling him a monkey apart from someone that barely understands English accusing him...very different and no double standards, just a tainted point of view I suspect.!

Paul Walsh
Not so Simon, John Terry was cleared by a court of law as reported by the BBC on 12th July! Check your facts before responding. And just for your information I am not a Chelsea fan as you alluded to! I support Millwall and have been the butt of a lot of extreme views. And no not all Millwall supporters are thugs, I have an Honours Degree!

simon calvert
Oh, here come the black lawyers wallies spouting off about how everyone is racist who isn't black, they are the racists...!

Adj Jackson
Well sed Simon I was accused of bein racsist once and would of cost me my job had my manager not met my black partner the guy had already pulled the racsist card 3 times previous

Paul Jones
Can Roberto di Matteo now sue him for losing him his job as he couldn't referee fairly

IRONSTINE
He is very well looked after considering the overall picture

gypsy56
Those who 'backed up' these accusations should (in my opinion) lose their jobs for attempting to lose an honest man his job by lying ! The Association of Black Lawyers should be disbanded as it is a racist organisation by refusing to allow any other coloured lawyer to join. There is no way the law or the politicians would allow a 'Whites only' organisation!

Thomas Cat
He must be the worst referee in the Prem.

Joint worst along with Webb.

Dave Harrison
Lorgar. They keep telling us that Webb is the best ref in the league. Not in my book, he gets too many big decisions wrong

Lorgar Aurelian
I know i keep hearing that stat. Maybe it depends on which team you support...?

david
spoken by the ref ( i dont give a monkeys) because they said he go the sending of wrong ,,and he did,,,,but these black players and in this country black people.have a chip on there shoulders when i was at school if you called someone black this ment you were unclean or dirty and smelly,,, but now its rasict..NOW this is what gets me realy upset...the music a lot of these black people listen to (RAP) in 1 song you will hear the (N) word used 10 or 15 times.so why have the judges in britain and the black lawyers not charging them with being rasict,, as soon as you use this word regardless the coulor of your skin ,,this is the ultimate rasict word..i rest my case

Lorgar Aurelian
Ok so the spurious claims of racism are disproved which is good, however he has to be investigated for his obvious bias towards certain teams. Along with Howard Webb. And no i'm not a Chelski fan.

Dave Harrison
Lorgar. Due to the financial crisis. Man Utd had to make 18 people redundant recently. The 6 refereees & 12 linesmen are said to be devastated

Lorgar Aurelian
Haha nice Dave you got it in one!

Lorgar Aurelian
You're damn right i'm jealous, you would be too if you 2 of the 'best' refs in the country so beholden to His Masters Voice! Still 2nd though...

Dave Harrison
Fine, so far so good. Now let us turn our attention to the players who made this vacuous allegation and ask them for an explanation in much the same way as has been demanded of Clattenberg

George Clement
I wonder if there is something about this fiasco in De Matteo getting fired? I read a while ago that Ambromavich wasn't best pleased about the assault on the referees room by the players etc.

Mark Hussey
Wonder if he will get is owen back red cArds every game

the massons
This racism card is being tried out far to often these days, everyone trying their luck it seems!
