One-Minute Parking Sign Put Up In Los Angeles

A parking sign that went up in an upmarket Los Angeles neighbourhood has proved a major embarrassment for the city's transport chiefs.

The sign at 11777 San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood was supposed to read "1 hour parking".

But the words "1 minute parking" had been painted on it by mistake.

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) was inundated with complaints about the draconian restrictions.

"Went to pay for a car parking ticket at the machine, the warden was writing the notice as I went back to the car ... Seriously its 1 minute," tweeted @TheLady_Sadie.

"What a typo! 1 minute parking sign in Brentwood, California. Lol," commented @StefaniGajewski.

"'1 Minute Parking' Sign Posted In Brentwood. That is plain stupid," added @A10Jim.

To make things worse LADOT apparently said it would not be able to change the sign for a fortnight.

But it obviously had a change of heart as it was soon replaced with the correct version.
