Plane Makes Emergency Landing At Belfast

A plane with 175 passengers on board has landed safely after being forced to make an emergency landing at Belfast International Airport.

The aircraft, a Thomas Cook-operated Airbus 320 bound for Tenerife, declared an emergency after taking off from Belfast shortly after 9am.

It had circled around Lough Neagh with suggestions it was trying to get rid of fuel before landing safely at 11.30am, Sky News' Ireland correspondent David Blevins reported.

Eyewitnesses from the nearby town of Antrim said it looked as though there had been a problem with the landing gear.

Nine fire engines were on standby, as well as the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Thomas Cook later revealed there were 175 people on board.

A company spokesman said: "We're pleased to confirm that flight TCX 8126, which turned back after developing technical problems, has now landed safely at Belfast International Airport.

"A replacement aircraft is on its way and we expect to get everyone off on their holidays to Tenerife this afternoon."

what do you think?

Why can't I comment on the story about the young lad who got beating up in Manchester? In what is a non racist attack, pathetic.

I'm with you Londliveengland! Why cant a comment be left about the 'hate' attack, yet we are allowed to comment on this non-story? Faults with airplanes happen quite regularly without hitting the news. A 'hate' attack is news in this country!
