Passenger Plane Makes Emergency Landing

A flight from Belfast to Barcelona has been forced to make an emergency landing in Cork after a suspected fuel leak.

The Europe Airpost flight with 144 passengers and six crew on board, who were flying with Air Contractors Ltd, safely touched down on the runway just before midnight and was attended to by emergency crews

Unconfirmed reports suggested the plane circled the airport three times before it was able to land.

There are no reports of any injuries and the passengers were put up in local hotels for the rest of the night.

An airport spokesman said: "We activated our emergency plan but the plane landed safely. The plane is grounded subject to inspection but it's not thought there was a leak."

The passengers are expected to be able to continue onto Barcelona later today.
