Paul Daniels Reveals He 'Kissed Schoolgirl'

Veteran TV magician Paul Daniels has revealed his shock after discovering a girl he picked up as a hitch-hiker more than 40 years ago and began kissing was a schoolgirl.
The 74-year-old entertainer, writing in his blog The Life and Times of Paul Daniels, said he gave the girl a lift after spotting her as he drove home from a late-night show on a country lane, The Sun newspaper reported.
He wrote: "I kissed her goodnight and it got a bit more passionate.
"Thank God it didn't get too passionate because something she said sent a shiver down my spine - she said she was still at school.
"I had her out of the car as fast as I could and I drove off with the lights off so she couldn't see my number plate! I felt sick."
In his blog, Daniels said the encounter occurred when he was 30. The blog has since been taken down.
The Sun reported that the magician described showbusiness in the 1970s as plagued by teenage "groupies" and added it was difficult to know their age.
He added: "The super-short mini-skirts, the teetering high heels, the full slap made it, as I say, impossible.
"Did I have such a life? Yes. I would be lying if I said I didn't. Were they all over 16? OMG I hope so. Can I remember them? No."
The father-of-three, married to former assistant Debbie McGee, 54, added that performers and pop stars were surrounded by female fans in the 1970s.
what do you think?

Sounds a bit like he is justifying the actions of celebrities in taking advantage of these groupies. He has valid points in so much as it was difficult to estimate their ages and that they were obviously up for it but I also feel he is getting in the first punch in case the girl now goes to the police or tabloids.

Maybe he's just being honest

My thoughts exactly... It seems like he's shooting himself in the leg to get out of the trenches.

Girls. That may be the case. What I would question is why all this honesty now 40 years on. Couldn' be anything to do with the current witch hunt for pop star abusers could it.

Think you got it in one - WITCH HUNT

Dave I have said many times on these blogs someone who is a celeb is a target. A few facts of life: many of us who played with bands saw initially the attraction of 'de birds' more than the music. The better your band got the more you pulled. Post 60's the girls when made up could have been anywhere between 14 and 20 but you did not ask them for their birth certificate (if you take my drift!) one assumed they were of age. It was all part of the process. I do not condemn the girls or brand them with any slang term it was for both sexes part of growing up in a new age. Paul Daniels just tells it as it was and that is why I think there will be many red faces when this witch hunt ends because I believe some now see it as a way of making money. But O to be 17 again but as it was - fancy joining a band Dave?

Agree with dave, he's wise to get his defence in first, in case some ex, now middle-aged groupie attempts to jump on the compo bandwagon.

I don't think he should worry. I doubt very much she'd admit to kissing him lol

gengisken1227
JS and celebs aside, it's gone all quiet on the asian pedo gangs and their council "child protection" pimps - whats being done about that? Nothing, I suspect, not such an easy collar.

HARLEY1974
Err..why would you be kissing someone you just picked up anyway?!

Debra Wiseman
Guilty

stevehanks2009
all i would say is, go into a pub or nightclub on a friday or saturday night and try to guess some of the female youngsters ages that are served with alcohol. i bet most are under 18 and after a few drinks the fellers have no chance as these girls are that far forward foer their ages that all sense goes out of the window. I AM NOT EXCUSING ANY FELLER THAT ENDS UP SLEEPING WITH ONE OF THESE GIRLS. i am just making a point.

Seems to me he's trying to cover his tracks and he's maybe got somethin to hide.otherwise why say anything now 40 years later

Very strange. Why, considering the famously-in-the-news-for-months-Jimmy-Saville-Inquiry, would Paul Daniels suddenly be found to have written something about kissing a schoolgirl? I was wondering about this matter, intermittently, for some time whilst browsing other internet pages, then suddenly, I remembered, he recently lost a section of finger whilst attempting to construct a magic trick in his workshop? If you compare kissing a schoolgirl to slicing part of your finger off then the "kissing of a schoolgirl" doesn't appear to matter. Then, the thought might have crossed his mind that it's not the best time to post such a blog, which might be why it's disappered.
