Pensioner Has Close Shave At Level Crossing

A pensioner had a lucky escape when he narrowly avoided being hit by a train after ignoring a barrier on a level crossing.

The 77-year-old was scraped by the locomotive and fell to the floor but ended up with just minor injuries.

Shortly before, he had decided to bypass a barrier which had come down to stop people and vehicles crossing the track.

Thinking no train was coming, he started to walk across the rails slowly until he suddenly realised a train was approaching.

The man was forced to throw himself out of the way of the passenger service as it sped towards him.

Although he ended up on the floor, the pensioner managed to regain his feet and hobble off the track.

Local police in the Czech Republic said he will be fined about 75.
