Gordon Fraser: Suspended Police Officer Dead

A suspended senior police officer has been found dead on a railway track after being hit by a train.
The body of Leicestershire Police Assistant Chief Constable Gordon Fraser was discovered on a train line on Friday in Aston Magna, Moreton-in-the-Marsh, Gloucestershire.
The circumstances of his death are being investigated by British Transport Police but are currently not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Fraser had been suspended by the force since December 2010 over allegations of gross misconduct and fraud, pending an investigation by Merseyside Police.
He also faced a separate allegation of perverting the course of justice, being investigated by Hertfordshire Constabulary, and was due to appear before St Albans magistrates alongside his wife Teresa, a serving officer with West Midlands Police, on Monday.
It is alleged Mrs Fraser, who has been suspended from her force pending the outcome of the probe, accepted responsibility for a speeding offence committed by her husband in Strathclyde last September.
Leicestershire Police Authority and Leicestershire Police said they were "deeply shocked and saddened" by the death of Mr Fraser.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends," they said in a joint statement.
Mr Fraser had been offered welfare support during his suspension.

So sad . I feel for his family and hope that if can now rest in piece. People will say he took the easy way out but what is easy about jumping in front of train !!! Tragic x

Tragic but this happens a lot in the world as people in high positions believe they are untouchable. When the truth hits them their frail inflated egos pop and they find it impossible to continue. My sympathies to his family

Tim. The higher up the greasy pole they get the greater their feeling of self importance becomes until they believe they are fireproof. This case should have been before a court long before now

ACPO seem very quiet about this allegedly corrupt officer took the easy option rather than face justice

Dave Harrison
Seems corruption goes to the very top of the police. First the Chief Constable of Cleveland, then his deputy and now this to say nothing about the Hillsboro disgrace. Hardly inspires confidence in our police force and makes the job of the bobby on the street that much harder.

"bobby on the street " Sorry, you've got me there - what would that be then?

Dave Harrison
Jim. Missed off the bit about sitting in a car looking for motorists speeding

Police corruption is open in lots of other countries, a hand full of dollars can get you off any crime or offence, this country is no different its just hidden a lot better and protected by the even more corrupt masonic brothers

I have to say, reading from the top of the report about "gross misconduct", "fraud" and "perverting the course of justice", I expected the crime to have been something more than covering up a speeding offence - it will have been shockingly expensive and wasteful to have suspended two people for such a long time for something presumably so easy to clear up. It does go to show, though, that corruption goes on at every level and that people will do stupid things to cover up their irresponsibilities. It looks like he did have a conscience ultimately - too late though - and just too bad for his family. A series of unfortunate events.

somebody allegedly bought a cheap ticket then had to pay £160 more today. I would say this was fraud as well

You'd be right!
