Police Officer Pushes Over Man In Wheelchair
A police officer will keep his job despite being seen on camera pushing over a man in a wheelchair.
Police in Lafayette, Indiana have released the footage of the incident involving Lieutenant Tom Davidson last October.
He was among a number of officers responding to a call about a man suspected of having a gun near a school, according to reports.
They found Nicholas Kincade near the school with a pocket knife he carries for protection, but no gun.
In the dashboard camera footage Mr Kincade can be seen beginning to leave when his wheelchair strikes Lt Davidson.
It is then that officer pushes him, causing the 25-year-old to topple over and fall out of his wheelchair.
An internal police investigation recommended Lt Davidson be sacked, but a commission decided instead to give him a 30-day unpaid suspension, a year of probation and a demotion.
