Pope Benedict Xvi is to resign his post due to ill health, according to reports.
The 85 year old leader of the Catholic Church, who was elected Pope in 2005, will reportedly step down within the next two weeks.
The news has reportedly been confirmed by officials at the Vatican in Italy, who have given the date of his retirement as 28 February. The move is said to be due to the Pontiff's failing health.
