Radcliffe Has Most Complained About Movie

The Woman In Black is the most complained about film of the year so far, according to the British Board Of Film Classification.

It stars Daniel Radcliffe as a young lawyer who visits a remote village that is being terrorised by a vengeful ghost, played by Life On Mars star Liz White.

The movie, Radcliffe's first big screen outing since Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, has attracted 120 complaints directly to the BBFC so far, despite it being trimmed to get a lower rating.

The Woman In Black went on general release with a 12A certificate after six seconds of footage was cut "to reduce moments of strong violence/horror".

In addition to the visual cuts, substitutions were also made by darkening some shots and by reducing the sound levels on others.

The 120 complaints represent triple the number of people who complained about the Oscar-winning Black Swan, which was the most complained about film of 2011.

There were 40 complaints about that 15 certificate film, which starred Natalie Portman as a ballet dancer and Vincent Cassel as her director.

BBFC director David Cooke said some of the complaints were about a lesbian sex scene between Portman and her co-star Mila Kunis.

But others were sparked by "confounded expectations" about the film's dark subject matter, which surprised some viewers who thought they were going to see a film about dance.

The movie, which also contained strong language and bloody images, was passed without any cuts.

The most complained about film of the last 10 years was Batman: The Dark Knight.

There were more than 300 complaints about the 2008 film, which starred Christian Bale as the masked superhero and Heath Ledger as The Joker.

The movie, which the BBFC said contained "moderate violence and sustained threat", was given a 12A certificate, again with no cuts being made.
