Rihanna Tweets Then Deletes #FreePalestine Post
Rihanna has deleted a tweet saying #FreePalestine just minutes after posting it online.
The message, calling for an end to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, was retweeted almost 7,000 times in eight minutes before it was removed from the singer's Twitter feed.
A source told TMZ Rihanna never meant for the tweet to be posted.
"She didn't even realise it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans," they said.
The source claims the Bajan pop star was reading about the Middle East conflict online when she clicked on a link which automatically posted the pro-Palestine message.
She followed up with a less polarising tweet later which said: "Let's pray for peace and a swift end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict! Is there any hope?.."
International efforts towards a ceasefire collapsed on Tuesday, as Hamas rejected an Egypt-proposed truce, and Israel resumed its bombing raids hours after continued rocket fire.
Rihanna is a prolific Twitter user and her tweets throughout the World Cup kept many football fans entertained.
On Sunday, she tweeted photos of her posing with the winning Germany team in Rio de Janeiro.
