Ringo Starr to appear in Powerpuff Girls comeback

Beatles legend Ringo Starr is set to get animated in a special one-off episode of hit children's TV show The Powerpuff Girls.

The crime-fighting trio is returning to Cartoon Network eight years after the series came to end, and Starr will make a cameo appearance as a "flamboyant mathematician".

He has also recorded an original track, I Wish I Was A Powerpuff Girl, for the episode, which will air in America later this year.

The musician is no stranger to lending his voice to kids' TV shows - he narrated beloved series Thomas & Friends from 1984 to 1986.
