Robin Gibb mouthed Bee Gees hits in coma
Robin Gibb's wife Dwina knew her husband would wake from his coma after he attempted to mouth the words to his Bee Gees songs while unconscious.
The music legend, who has been battling cancer, recently contracted pneumonia and slipped into a coma at a London hospital, but he regained consciousness last week.
Dwina was warned her husband might never recover from the coma, but she was convinced he would pull through after seeing his reaction when fellow Bee Gees star Barry played their classic tracks to him.
She tells The Sun, "Barry sang a song he had composed for Robin. We played him Bee Gees music - and each time we did, tears began trickling down his cheeks. As we played him his song I Started A Joke, he opened his mouth on cue to sing. The doctors know relatives of coma patients are always looking for hopeful signs.
"They told me it could just be an automatic response. But it seemed too much of a coincidence that the only time Robin opened his mouth was the exact point in the song when he would have started singing. We persuaded them to let us test my theory by attaching electrodes to Robin's brain and monitoring his reactions to the music."
He awoke from his coma during a playing of his new classical work Titanic Requiem.
