Comic's Son Held Over Child Porn Charges

The son of actor Ronnie Barker is being held in custody on suspicion of making indecent images of children.

Adam Barker appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court in West London, charged with five counts of child porn.

The 44-year-old, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody until August 21, when he will face a committal hearing to crown court.

It is alleged that a computer seized from Barker's home in 2003 had thousands of indecent images of children on it.

Two images were level five - the highest category of seriousness - while 24 were at level four, the court heard.

Barker had been interviewed and released on bail until June 2004.

His arrest by Scotland Yard's paedophile unit was part of a crackdown on internet child porn, codenamed Operation Ore.

During the latest court hearing, no plea was entered and there was no application for bail for Barker, who wore glasses and a pale shirt over a white t-shirt.

He is the youngest son of Ronnie Barker, one of Britain's best loved comic actors, who died five years ago.

what do you think?

When one considers the linguistic, behavioural and moralistic development of children since 1980 and of most parents then compares that with the number of persons as in this news story trying to escape from country to country, suffering violence against them, entire streets of placcard-wielding protestors marching around them and so many even kill themselves, I feel, society is as unkind and uncaring as the first Neanderthal probably was.

I found I couldn't comment on the outcomes of the two trials - the three asian men killed by the guys in the car in Birmingham or the PC Harwood case. Why? The trials were over and there was no sub judice risk.

To be reasonable, I suppose they do have to be careful what they allow to be posted and what they don't but some of the comments seem so trivial that they don't appear to matter. For instance, I merely stated something along the lines of, "Farming is a harsh job" then that comment was deleted. Perhaps, we should mention it to Tim Burners-Lee? We should say, "It ain't fair. We can't hardly say nothin'. Is this what you had in mind writing your internet software?"
