Rupert Murdoch cancels Life of Pi party to mourn mother
Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch scrapped a party to celebrate the success of Ang Lee's new movie Life Of Pi so he could mourn his late mum.
Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, 103, died at the family's home in Melbourne, Australia earlier this week.
The 20th Century Fox boss had scheduled a cocktail party at his New York home for Lee and various movie executives for Wednesday, but the bash was cancelled.
The movie adaptation of Jann Martel's bestseller has already been a big hit for Murdoch's film empire - it has grossed more than £50 million internationally.
