Russell Brand's Next Booky Wook Is For Kids
Russell Brand is to write a series of children's books retelling classic fairy stories and folk tales.
The first of the Trickster Tales series - The Pied Piper of Hamelin - will be released in November.
"Fairy stories are a code to change the way children see the world. Once children see the world differently change is inevitable," the actor and comedian said.
The star will be collaborating with award-winning illustrator Chris Riddell.
Publisher Jamie Byng said: "The pairing of Russell and Chris is a match made in heaven and their series of illustrated retellings has the potential to become a worldwide phenomenon."
The second and third books will arrive in 2015 and 2016.
Brand's previous books include the best-selling memoir My Booky Wook.
He is not the first comic actor to write a children's book - David Walliams has enjoyed success with the likes of Mr Stink and Gangsta Granny.
