Samuel L Jackson: I Am Not Laurence Fishburne
A broadcaster in Los Angeles has apologised to Samuel L Jackson after confusing him with Matrix star Laurence Fishburne in an interview.
Jackson was being asked about his role in the new RoboCop film by KTLA's entertainment reporter when the mix-up happened.
Sam Rubin asked the Hollywood star what kind of reaction he had had to his Super Bowl advert.
But when Jackson, 65, replied "What Super Bowl commercial?" the journalist realised his mistake.
As Rubin stuttered and stumbled, Jackson, speaking via satellite from Atlanta, said: "See, you're as crazy as the people on Twitter - I'm not Laurence Fishburne!"
An embarrassed Rubin said: "It's my fault, I know that, that was my fault, my mistake."
Fishburne starred in an advert for Kia cars during the huge US sporting event which set a record for its number of viewers.
"We don't all look alike. We may be all black and famous but we don't all look alike," added Jackson.
Jackson, who features in an advert for Barclays credit cards, then proceeded to list other black actors and the products they promote.
The pair then spent a few minutes speaking about RoboCop and why Jackson wanted to join the cast of Michael Keaton and Gary Oldman, but Rubin struggled to get the interview back on track.
Taking to the air half an hour later he apologised again to KTLA's viewers, saying: "I really pride myself on the fact that unlike a lot of people who do this kind of work, more often than not I really do know what I'm talking about.
"But I didn't 30 minutes ago and I'm really embarrassed about it, and I very much apologise to Samuel L Jackson and anyone else who was offended for what was a very amateur mistake."
