Savile's Chauffeur Arrested Over Rape Claim
Jimmy Savile's former chauffeur and flatmate Ray Teret has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
Teret, 71, was arrested in Altrincham following a police probe into allegations of historic sexual abuse.
The accusations are not linked with the national inquiry into abuse by Savile, the police said.
Detective Inspector Simon Davies of Greater Manchester Police, said: "I want to make it absolutely clear that this is not an investigation into the late Jimmy Savile, nor do any of the allegations relate to any involvement by Savile."
He added: "The arrest follows an investigation by the Serious Sexual Offences Unit into three separate allegations of historic sexual abuse which have been reported to Greater Manchester Police since 28 October 2012."
A 61-year-old man was also arrested at the same Woodlands Road address on suspicion of rape.
According to Sky sources, the victims say the alleged offences took place around the time Teret was living with the disgraced television presenter in the Sale area.
They add Savile was not there when the alleged sexual abuse occurred.
The arrests come a day after Savile's nephew Guy Marsden backed calls for the body of the Top Of The Pops host to be exhumed and cremated.
