Sofia Vergara skips the Oscars due to flu

Actress Sofia Vergara has shut down speculation she skipped the Oscars on Sunday to undergo surgery, insisting she's at home sick with the flu.

The Modern Family beauty was reportedly expected to walk the red carpet at the prestigious awards ceremony in Los Angeles, and later attend Madonna's afterparty, but over the weekend online reports claimed Vergara had pulled out and was in hospital for a mystery operation.

However, the Colombian beauty has now silenced the rumours by uploading a picture of herself lying in bed on Twitter.com, alongside a caption which reads, "Watching the Oscars at home so I dont give everyone the flu haha!"
