Spandau Ballet want to to play at Olympics finale
Eighties pop stars Spandau Ballet are hoping to get a last-minute invite to perform at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games after their hit Gold became the unofficial anthem of Great Britain's medal heroes.
The 1983 track has become a good luck tune for the home nation at the 2012 Olympics as Britain continues its own gold haul - collecting a treasure trove of medals, and the song has been adopted as the theme for the BBC's Olympics Tonight show.
Songwriter Gary Kemp has now revealed he is waiting for the call to join The Who and the Spice Girls at the finale spectacular this weekend.
He tells the Daily Mail newspaper, "We would love to take part. If they asked we would jump at it. I am so proud of the team."
