Stars gather to pay tribute to Eric Sykes

Eddie Izzard and Robert Lindsay paid their respects to late comedy legend Eric Sykes on Monday by speaking at a celebratory service in London.

The veteran funnyman, who enjoyed a 60-year TV and radio career in his native U.K., passed away last summer at the age of 89.

Sykes' family and friends gathered at the U.K. capital's St Martin-in-the-Fields church on Monday for a service celebrating the star's life, while Izzard, Lindsay and theatre mogul Bill Kenwright all stepped up to give readings during the ceremony.

The Central Band of the Royal Air Force provided the music.
