Stiletto Killer Sentenced To Life Behind Bars
A Houston woman has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing her boyfriend to death with the heel of a stiletto.
Ana Trujillo, 45, cried in court as her sentence was handed down over the killing of 59-year-old Alf Stefan Andersson.
Prosecutors say Trujillo attacked Mr Andersson - a professor and researcher at the University of Houston - during an argument at his home last June.
On the night Mr Andersson was killed, the couple had gone out before later returning to his apartment.
A cab driver who took them home told jurors Trujillo was angry and shouting during the journey.
The prosecution said during an ensuing argument at Mr Andersson's apartment he was injured and fell on his back.
Trujillo then sat on Mr Andersson, preventing him from getting up, and repeatedly struck him in the face and head with the five-and-a-half inch heel of her shoe.
But her attorney argued that Mr Andersson had attacked Trujillo, and that she defended herself with the only weapon available.
This argument was rejected by jurors who took just two hours before returning their guilty verdict earlier this month.
The court heard Trujillo did not have any injuries from her confrontation with Mr Andersson, while the victim had defensive wounds on his hands and wrists.
Trujillo told detectives she hit Mr Andersson with her shoe "a couple of times" and did not realise she had hurt him until she saw blood on the floor.
