Stuart Hall: 'I will be lucky to live two more years'
Veteran broadcaster Stuart Hall has revealed the stress of his rape arrest has sparked a heart complaint that could kill him within two years.
The 83-year-old BBC sports commentator, who also fronted hit TV game show It's a Knockout, was arrested in December and was later charged with rape and multiple counts of indecent assault over alleged incidents in the 1970s and '80s.
He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Thursday for the latest hearing and told reporters he is determined to clear his name but the case has had a devastating impact on his health.
Hall says, "I shall be defending myself. I have never been through so much stress in my life... I'm 83 years old now and I was a healthy 83 year old but I am incubating a heart complaint and I will be very lucky to survive another couple of years, but I hope to survive those two years to regain my honour and my reputation and, more than ever, my life."
