Megan: Teacher Jeremy Forrest To Be Extradited
Teacher Jeremy Forrest has agreed to be extradited from France over the alleged abduction of schoolgirl Megan Stammers.
The married 30-year-old appeared before magistrates in Bordeaux four days after being arrested on suspicion of child abduction on a European Arrest Warrant.
Forrest, from Ringmer, near Lewes, East Sussex, is expected to have another hearing on Thursday.
Outside court, Forrest's British lawyer, Phil Smith, said: "Now that he has agreed to be extradited to the UK, we look forward to the full story emerging.
"He is very appreciative of the support of his family," said Mr Smith, and "concerned about the impact of this on all those concerned".
Forrest travelled to France with Megan on September 20 on a cross-channel ferry.
Police were aware return tickets had been bought but they were not used on September 23 and the European Arrest Warrant was issued two days later.
Members of the public recognised Forrest in a street in Bordeaux and he was arrested. Megan returned to the UK at the weekend.
The case also featured on BBC's Crimewatch and in online appeals.
