The Vampire Diaries to get spin-off series
Bosses behind The Vampire Diaries are planning a spin-off of the hit US TV series.
The Originals will centre on actor Joseph Morgan's character Klaus Mikaelson as he returns to New Orleans, Louisiana to reunite with his protege.
Phoebe Tonkin, who plays werewolf Hayley in the supernatural drama, which premiered in 2009, is also set to co-star.
The new show's pilot will air on network The CW on 25 April, and if it receives a full series order, The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec will work on both programmes, according to Entertainment Weekly.
