School Staff Questioned In Extreme Porn Inquiry
Two teachers and a teaching assistant in Birmingham have been arrested for alleged possession of extreme pornography.
Police said two of the men were detained at their homes in the city while the third was held at his property in Wolverhampton just after 6am.
They were questioned by detectives from the West Midlands force's public protection unit at police stations in the region before later being released on bail.
One suspect is a 37-year-old teacher at Park View School, while the others are a 32-year-old teacher and a teaching assistant aged 36, both of whom are from Golden Hillock School.
The schools are part of Park View Educational Trust.
Police have notified the suspects' employers as well as the Department for Education.
The force said its investigation began in April 2013 as a result of an ongoing enquiry into the sharing of extreme pornography.
The trust said it was "concerned to learn about the arrests" of three of its teaching staff and insisted there was "absolutely no suggestion from the police that (the pornography) involved minors".
"We would like to reassure parents that we are co-operating fully with the police to support their investigations into individuals at both schools," it added.
