Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Reveals 'Bomb Threat'
Rob Ford has disclosed an alleged email warning that Toronto City Hall will be blown up if the disgraced mayor and his city councillor brother do not resign.
Mr Ford, who returned to work on June 30 after a two-month stint in rehab for drugs and alcohol addiction, showed a copy of the email allegedly sent to Doug Ford to reporters on Monday.
In it, the author writes: "Since you guys been back, it's been chaos.
"So here's the message: You have 24 hours to vacatge (sic) City Hall. You and your brother.
"No fuss, no argument no whinning (sic) no nothing. If you walk, everything is fine but if you ignore this warning, Cityt (sic) Hall will disappear from the map and believe me, I am not joking ...
"Bombs already set up."
A Toronto police spokesperson confirmed that officers are investigating the threat, but no evacuations of City Hall have been ordered.
Mr Ford said he did not consult with police before going public with the threat, and that he planned to continue with meetings inside the building.
The mayor, who admitted to smoking crack and abusing several other drugs and alcohol before entering rehab in May, is running for re-election on October 27.
