Toddler's Heroin Death: Two Arrested

A man and a woman have been arrested in Wolverhampton on suspicion of murder after a toddler died from a heroin overdose.

They are currently being questioned at a police station in the West Midlands.

Both were detained in connection with the suspected murder of 23-month-old Daniel Jones.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics who responded to a call to a house in the Penn area of the city at 6.15am on Tuesday, May 29.

Detectives from West Midlands Police launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the child's death, which was initially treated as unexplained.

However, the results of recent forensic tests showed the child's death was caused by a heroin overdose.

I never met a junkie who wanted to be one. I never met one who wasn't acutely aware that so many people think they are sc*m.They are human beings and while you have the right not to like their lifestyle, you shouldn't talk about people like this. have any of you seen the Barnardo's ad on tv at the moment? Basically it's message is: every flawed and ruined human started off as a kid who was wronged or mistreated by the adults around them.

I hope that that recent calls for changes to current drug laws will ponder incidents like this. This boy isnt the first and wont be the last to die because of neglect ,cruelty , abuse all courtesy of drugs . 25 years for all dealers - no parole

Yes i think most of us feel that way kerry and movvi.sometimes you comment and then you read it back to yourself and the comment seems tame compared to how your feeling about the story.

I don't know what happened here. How did the boy get the heroin? This is a very poor article and very uninformative. Although i hate the hatred turned towards heroin addicts in general, i feel that we are too slow to act in removing the childen of addicts from the home until they clean up. heroin is always the priority in such families, where both parents are addicts

Left heroin in a rap, I guess child thought it was a sweet. And bang. Very sad story. Social services must take kids away from known heroin users.

I've also heard of junkies administering heroin to their children to stop their children crying in the past. As for all the people commenting about crushing junkies into fertilizer, I hope none of you are smokers.
